Our needs in the present must not jeopardize the environment in the future. We must all be held responsible for the health and protection of our environment. This means that tourism must also respect and uphold this responsibility and minimize as much as possible its impact on this environment. This is what UNESCO asked us to do on 26th June 2009 when it declared the Dolomites a World Natural Heritage property.

We, in Molveno, take our environment seriously and we willingly accept the responsibilities this entails. We conciliate sport and fun with our environment, we safeguard the natural habitat of the animals that live here, ( the bear, the wolf and the lynx are now slowly repopulating this habitat after a long absence) and respect the delicate plants that grow here. The nine components of the Dolomites World Natural Heritage property include a series of highly distinctive mountain landscapes that are of exceptional natural beauty.

Their dramatically vertical and pale colored peaks offer a variety of distinctive sculptural forms that are extraordinary in a global context.

These mountains also contain an internationally important combination of Earth science values. The quantity and concentration of highly varied limestone formations is extraordinary in a global context, while the superbly exposed geology provides an insight into the recovery of marine life in the Triassic Period, after the greatest extinction event recorded in the history of life on Earth. The sublime, monumental and colorful landscapes of the Dolomites have also long attracted hosts of travelers and a history of scientific and artistic interpretations of its values.
